Pistol-caliber carbines are an interesting type of gun because they’re somewhere in between a pistol and a rifle. Some people say they’re pointless, but others swear by them.
I happen to think every gun has its place, and pistol-caliber carbines are no exception. Here’s a short list of the 6 coolest pistol-caliber carbines ever made.
CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1
The CZ Scorpion Evo 3 is the civilian-legal version of their original Scorpion machine pistol but is said to be more reliable than the original gun.
It has a sleek looking design and uses a lightweight polymer for its receiver and stock. Plus, the 9mm rounds it’s chambered for provide plenty of stopping power for anyone looking for a reliable home-defense gun.
You can pick this carbine up for $900.
CMMG Mk9 T
The CMMG Mk9 T has the look and feel of an AR-15 but is much more manageable because it’s chambered for 9mm rounds.
If you like the look and feel of the AR-15 but want to save some money on ammunition at the shooting range, this is the gun for you.
Plus, it comes with a built-in flash suppressor, free-float handguard, and adjustable buttstock.
Grab this gun for the price of $1,149.95.
Rock River Arms LAR-9 CAR A4
This AR inspired carbine comes included with an A2 flash-hider and has a 6-position tactical stock. It’s chambered for 9mm and is considered one of the most accurate carbine AR’s, with an accuracy of 1.5 inches at 50 yards.
With a total weight of just over seven pounds, this carbine is comfortable even for those long days spent at the range.
This pistol-caliber carbine can be yours for $1,180.
This is a pistol-caliber carbine that you can get in either 9mm or .40 S&W.
An interesting feature of the SUB-2000 is that can handle a wide variety of handgun magazines provided that they’re the same caliber as the SUB-2000. For example, you can load your SUB-2000 with your Glock 17 magazine, which makes the SUB-2000 an excellent choice for anyone who owns a compatible gun.
The SUB-2000 can also fold its barrel back to massively decrease the length of the gun. The folded size is just 16 inches and is even small enough to fit inside a backpack.
This is the cheapest carbine on this list and sells for just $500.
Rossi Circuit Judge
Unlike the other carbines on this list, the Rossi Circuit Judge is a 5-shot revolver with a natural look.
The Circuit Judge can fire either .45 Colt or .410 shotshells. It weighs just over 5 pounds and has very little kick which makes it a great gun for kids to learn to shoot with.
You can get one of these guns from Rossi for $689.
OK, this isn’t actually a gun…but it’s on this list anyway because it’s just so cool. It’s a conversion kit that turns your pistol into a carbine.
Each conversion is specific to a certain type of gun and its build, so you need to order it directly from MechTech to get the one you need. The switchover is simple and doesn’t even require any tools.
The drawback is that these come at a pretty hefty price considering it’s just a frame and not actually a gun. It could anywhere from $400 – $500. You could get a Kel-Tec SUB-2000 for that much, but if you really love your pistol it might be worth it for you.
